YORDAN PEEV                                                                                                  

Yordan Peev is Professor of Arabic and Islamic History at the Center for Oriental Languages and Cultures, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" where he has a position since 1979. He is one of the academics who introduced Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Sofia as well as one of the cofounders of the Center for Intercultural Studies and Partnership (CISP).

Prof. Dr. Yordan Peev has a large international experience:Arabic Language Studies. Diploma of the University of Tunis (1962 - 1965);
College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium), Degree in Political Sciences (1967 - 1968);
Research Fellow, Institute of International Relations, Sofia (1969 - 1973);
Senior Research Fellow. St. Anthony's College, Oxford (1973);
Ph.D. in History. University of Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski" (1974);
Deputy Permanent Delegate. Bulgarian Delegation to UNESCO in Paris, France (1974 - 1976);
Since 1996: Professor, Director of the Seminar "L'Islam et l'Europe", College of Europe, Bruges.

Professor Peev's conferences include: Universities of Algiers, Amsterdam, Damascus, Kuwait, Louvain, Madrid, Naples, and Paris (Collége de France, Sorbonne and INALCO (Institut National des Langues et Civilization Orientales), Perugia, Utrecht, et al. 1989 Yordan Peev was invited by the Institute for East-West Security Studies to participate in the discussions "Sources of Instability: Seeking Cooperative Solutions" and to deliver a presentation on the solutions of the Arab-Israeli Conflict at the U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, DC.
